At the table!
A call everyone knows: "Come to the table!" A voice that echoes through the streets, across generations. You have a place. You belong.
In the spatial installation "Aan Tafel" (At the Table), artist Tamaar Tóth Varjú creates a scene reminiscent of a classical painting. A long, richly set table, full of references to tradition, ritual, and togetherness. But something is off. A chair is pushed back a bit. A coat lies carelessly on an armrest. A plate is missing. Someone has stood up. Figures sit around the table, dressed in designs from the Swansong collection—garments as a final tribute, personal and poetic. The visitor literally walked into the work and became part of the tableau vivant. The place at the empty plate could be occupied, giving the installation an interactive quality. Behind the apparent abundance lies a layered interplay of presence and absence, of habits and choices.
